Marc wasn't really there exactly. But when a delivery showed up at the cabin where Watts and Steven were on vacation which only had Marc's name on it, Steven of course made sure Marc was aware of it.
What's the note? Marc asked when he read it through their eyes. It's a flower. Is he asking if it's a flower?
Steven, who suspected there might be a Victorian implication to Gray's gesture, said nothing. In part because he didn't know Gray well enough to say for certain that's what was intended. Also in part because Steven found it funny to keep that information to himself.
"He's a friend of Arden's," Steven said instead. "Perhaps that's why?"
Ugh, Marc replied. Because this was now far too touchy feely for him. Bad enough he already had to pretend he wasn't included on the flowers Arden sent to the three of them directly.
"You could say thank you?" Steven suggested.
Marc gave Steven a glare from his reflection in the nearby window, letting that be the answer about how likely it was that Marc was doing to do anything remotely resembling manners for something.
"Right, it's you," Steven said.
Steven tried to make a mental note to pass on thanks on Marc's behalf the next time he saw Gray. Of course it was Steven's memory so perhaps not a guarantee, but the intention to show appreciation was there all the same. Maybe even enough that somehow Gray might divine through the ether of the multiverse that at the very least Steven had gotten enjoyment out of the gesture, even if Marc had reacted more like a wet cat to the idea that anybody did gestures for him of any kind for any reason whatsoever.
